1. Senior Analyst – Federal policy (Ontario Region) - Pembina Institute
The Pembina Institute is seeking a strategic, analytical and motivated individual to join its federal policy program as a senior analyst. The candidate will support the execution of our federal climate and energy strategy, and will play a leadership role in our policy campaign to support an accelerated phase-out of coal-fired electricity.
We’re looking for a person who is inspired by the current opportunity to shape Canada’s climate future. The ideal candidate loves Canadian politics, is excited about evidence-based decision-making, and is up to the challenge of framing the perfect briefing note. We’re looking for a big-picture thinker who can pull together a winning advocacy campaign, and who knows how to impact the public dialogue on our issues. Our ideal candidate can shift gears quickly and is comfortable covering a wide range of issues, including the decarbonization of electricity supply, responsible fossil fuel development, and carbon pricing.
This role will require engagement with diverse stakeholders, including multiple levels of government, industry, health groups, communities and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to support the development and implementation of ambitious and effective federal climate policies in Canada.
Roles and Responsibilities
In conjunction with the Alberta Electricity Director and the Federal Policy Director, support to Pembina’s work on the electricity file
Support the Federal Policy Director as needed in the execution of Pembina’s federal activities
Act as an occasional spokesperson for the Institute
Coordinate and produce support materials for government relations meetings
Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses of climate policies and programs
Review technical analysis and collaborate with various programs within the Institute
Develop and maintain constructive relationships with other NGOs, the private sector, academia, governments and Indigenous peoples
Represent the Pembina Institute at public meetings and forums
Proficient with Microsoft and Google documents, spreadsheets and presentations
Essential Qualifications
Minimum of a degree in engineering, sciences, economics, law, public policy or related field – master’s or graduate degrees preferred
Proven problem solving and analytical skills
Experience quantifying economic and environmental impacts of climate and energy policies
Familiarity with federal and provincial policies on a range of environment and energy issues, particularly electricity
Ability to communicate complex technical matters in plain language, with experience creating briefing notes and summaries
Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and social change through educational, professional, and/or volunteer experiences
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide array of stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
Self-motivated and results-oriented, with the ability to take initiative and work independently

2. Manager, Canada Policy - Amazon
We are looking for a Manager, Canada Public Policy, who will lead public policy (including government relations) activities supporting Amazon’s Canada business out of Toronto or Ottawa, travelling as needed, and report to the Manager, Americas Public Policy, located in Washington, DC.
Basic Qualifications
At least 5+ years of public policy experience in a major corporation, the government, and/or a lobbying business in Canada is required;
Key Strategic objectives and deliverables:
Identify, develop, and prioritize, with the Canada business, the Canadian Legal team, and the Manager, Americas Public Policy, the public policy goals and issue positions for Canada;
Develop the strategy and tactics for accomplishing the public policy goals;
Represent Amazon’s public policy positions before Canadian officials at the federal, provincial and local levels
Respond to government inquiries of a public policy or political nature;
Hire and manage external consultants as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in or with a North American-based multinational company is preferred, as is additional experience within the Canadian government;
Education or work experience in North America is preferred, as is experience with high tech policy issues;

4.Research Officer - Legislative Assembly of Ontario (Legislative Library and Research Services)
The Legislative Library and Research Services branch of the Office of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario seeks a dynamic, client-oriented individual to join a multi-disciplinary team of legal, political science, public administration, social and other public policy analysts to provide high quality, confidential, non-partisan research and analysis to Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs) from all parties, legislative committees and senior staff of the Assembly.
The successful candidate will have the ability to quickly and thoroughly research and analyze complex public policy issues, prepare concise, well-written reports and deliver oral briefings on a range of topics in a deadline-driven environment. You will also be a highly motivated self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently or in a team, and flexibility and adaptability to serve a varied client group with changing priorities and deadlines. Sound judgment, tact and sensitivity to functioning in the political environment are essential.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position you need at minimum a master's degree in political science, public policy, public administration, or related field; superior knowledge of Ontario and Canadian legislative and governmental institutions and processes, and Ontario and federal politics; 2-5 years of related research and policy analysis experience, including the use of qualitative and quantitative analytical approaches; knowledge of and the ability to work in a wide range of public policy areas; data visualization skills reflected in the effective use of graphs, charts, and spreadsheets; experience in reading and interpreting public Acts; superior research and analytical abilities; excellent oral and written communication skills; the ability to work well under pressure; sound judgment; initiative, discretion, tact and flexibility; excellent computer skills. Proficiency in French would be an asset.

6. Project Manager - Compute Ontario
Compute Ontario was incorporated in 2014 as a new not-for-profit organization to support advanced computing in the province. The primary motivation for Compute Ontario’s formation was the well-documented and growing need for better provincial level collaboration and orchestration of Advanced Computing to support Research and Innovation. Compute Ontario is in its formative stages. Its early functions will include centralizing strategy and planning functions for advanced computing assets and investments in Ontario, including hardware, software, highly qualified personnel, data management, storage and security, and connectivity.
Compute Ontario is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Project Manager to provide project planning and logistical support to its senior team.
In this key role, you will assist in the development of project management methodologies and standards to ensure consistent, efficient and effective delivery of national and provincial initiatives. You will use project management frameworks to initiate, plan, execute and track the progress of projects including developing and establishing project plans and budgets, planning and coordinating all meeting logistics, project reporting activities and issues and risk management. Projects will aim to promote advanced computing in Ontario and encourage collaboration across Canada to broaden and strengthen the industry.
You will act as the liaison between Compute Ontario’s senior management, vendors, partners and stakeholders to ensure deliverables and expectations are effectively managed and issues are resolved. You will develop strong working relationships with external stakeholder including Vice Presidents of Research and Chief Technology Officers at Ontario universities and technology industry leaders.
Using your exceptional communication skills, you will utilize your expertise to initiate, develop and deliver recommendations to the senior team and ultimately the Board of Compute Ontario. Working under minimal supervision, you will perform most duties independently following established procedures and developing new project management protocols as required.

Qualifications:
Minimum 5-7 years of related project management experience in a government agency and/or the research and technology sector

Excellent judgement and time management skills to set priorities and deal with ambiguous or conflicting demands

7. Manager, Strategic Foresight and Planning - Government of Alberta (Edmonton)

8. Research Coordinator - University of Toronto Faculty of Social Work

Description:
Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Research Coordinator provides administrative and budgetary support to the “Incentives and Disincentives for Treating Depression and Anxiety in Ontario Family Health Teams.” Duties include managing resources, facilitating communication and collaboration across multiple sites, and organization for the project team; selecting and managing communication and collaborative tools; active and continuous communication with all team members to help facilitate collaborative project progress, tracking milestones to support PI with critical decisions regarding project direction, and to meet (and adjust when necessary) key milestones and project goals; management/coordination of external communications, including updating websites; and support in the preparation of presentations, data analysis and presentation, interim and final reports, ethics approval applications, research proposals, and publications.
Qualifications: (Minimum
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work/Health Sciences or the equivalent combination of education and experience; Masters of Social Work (MSW) and/or Health Sciences is highly desirable.
Experience:
Two years’ relevant experience with solid working knowledge of project management, data analysis, drafting/editing reports and grant applications, developing presentations, research project finance management, and communication and collaboration tools (knowledge translation). Good understanding and prior experience conducting research within health care, primary, mental health and/or health care policy.
Skills:
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), experience with research methodology (qualitative and quantitative); demonstrated ability using Nvivo for data analysis; experience producing documentation for all aspects of a research project from administrative to analytical; experience recruiting research study subjects and obtaining informed consent; experience coordinating and supervising research assistants.
